First things first, Drew is feeling MUCH better this week!!! He's still on his antibiotics and we go back to the doctor on Friday to make sure he's completely well. Now, if only his mommy and daddy could shake the stuffy nose/congestion/general ickiness we'd all be doing great. I wanted to post these pics from last week - they're just too precious! It was hard for Drew to go to sleep on his own when he wasn't feeling well, so we had to resort to other tactics (ie: hold him until he fell asleep and then maybe get to lay him down).

We had a pretty laid back weekend. Which we desperately needed after dealing with a sick baby all week. We spent time at home and just enjoyed relaxing on the couch. It's great to cuddle up with a blanket and be nice and warm inside while it's cold and yucky outside. It's been a nice change to get to actually experience "winter" this week (those of you "up north" will laugh, but for us 50 is COLD! And it actually got below freezing several times, and even you have to admit that's cold!!) I've loved it because we've actually been able to wear our sweaters and sweatsuits without burning up. Check out the cutest baby you've ever seen in his winter finest.

Now, for those of you who aren't getting your Drew fix - here's something to tide you over until you can come visit (or we visit you). Even though he's finally started crawling with purpose and up on hands and knees he would still much rather walk around holding on to something. Last night Russell was holding on to his hands in the kitchen and we shot this short video to show all of you! This will be our first try at posting video and I'll be honest - it's not a masterpiece, but you get the idea!

Thank goodness for antibiotics!

For all of you who have ever had a sick baby...I can finally relate. We have been extremely blessed to have had a very healthy baby and aside from the occasional runny nose we haven't had anything to deal with. We've finally crossed to the other side and have come out victorious (thank goodness for antibiotics)! Drew had his first (and hopefully last) ear infection this week. It's made for an interesting (and tiring) week for us all. He didn't want to be very far away from Mommy (preferably being held by her at all times) and didn't want to take naps or go down to bed for the night without being rocked and held. It reminded me of the first few months when I was sleep deprived, tired from carrying a baby all day, and not guaranteed to get a shower every day. I must admit though that I've enjoyed the extra cuddles that I've gotten this week. He's feeling much better now and will be off and running at full steam again soon.

There's a first time for everything...

Okay, it seems like everyone I know has started a blog, so it only seems right to jump on the bandwagon too. (I know, I know, if everyone else jumped off a building would I go too? NO - but this is different!) I hope that this will be a good way for me to keep our friends and family updated on what's going on in our lives as well as give me a chance to reflect. Hopefully this will also give us a way to keep the masses satisfied with pictures (although I'm not sure you could ever really be satisfied).




Since the real reason most of you would even think about reading this blog is to find out what's new with Drew I'll focus most of my attention there (besides, where else would I focus?) We've had some major milestones reached in the last week. Proof that indeed my baby is growing up. He has started crawling (actually moving in a forward direction with purpose, up on his hands and knees) and loves his newfound freedom. Now if only I could keep the floors clean... Last week when I went to get him in the morning and he greeted me with his usual smile, but this time (for the first time) he was standing up in the crib just looking at me!! Talk about a surprise for Mommy! We've lowered the mattress, but he's still figured out how to pull up. At least I don't have to worry about him leaning over and falling out on his head. Since we've crossed the threshold of pulling to stand independently he is "cruising" all over the place. The living room is his favorite spot since he can move all around the coffee table, to the ottoman, to the exersaucer, etc., etc., etc.
