Planting Seeds

Drew has been talking about "planting seeds" for weeks. He's pretended to plant seeds in his sandbox, in the grass, in the carpet, just about anywhere. I decided we needed to capitalize on this opportunity even though it's not really seed planting season. We bought some flower seeds at Home Depot and planted them in a pot inside. Hopefully we'll have some sprouts shortly. But, even if we don't, I know he had fun and hopefully learned a little something.

Getting dirt out of the bag

Putting it in the pot
Ready to plant our seeds
Making a hole for the seeds
Zinnia seeds
Putting the seeds in the pot
Cleaning off his fingers (he doesn't like to get them dirty)
Covering the seeds up, using the shovel
Watering the seeds - now we wait!

Cuteness

I'm trying to be better about keeping the blog updated (one can hope, right?), so here's another installment in the life of 2 precious boys and their awesome parents!

Josh in all his cuteness (that's drool on his shoulder - he's a drooling machine)
Love this picture! Such a sweet baby!!!
Mirror pictures - can't decide which is my favorite

Pictures, as requested

I've had several requests for new and updated pictures, so here you go. There's no real story or anything earth-shattering going on, just regular life with 2 precious boys. It's crazy, it's messy, it's loud, but it's wonderful!

Drew decided to take a nap on his "couch" one day - this was how I found him when I went to check on him during naptime
Josh has found his hands and is fascinated by them

Oklahoma trip

We just returned on Sunday from our trip to Oklahoma to visit my family (with a trip to Fort Worth to visit Russell's family in the middle - but somehow I didn't take any pictures with my camera while we were there). We flew into Tulsa on Saturday evening, spent Sunday with my family and then drove to Ft. Worth on Monday. We went to the Fort Worth Zoo on Tuesday with Papaw Dave and cousin Ben. It's an awesome zoo and Drew loved it. It wasn't TOO terribly hot (but still plenty hot and humid!) and we did our best to enjoy ourselves. Once again Drew loved the elephants and the giraffes the best. We also saw monkeys, hippos, lions, tigers, birds, penguins, horses, longhorn cattle, flamingos, and rhinos. I love going to the zoo and look forward to many years of sharing that with my boys. (Josh was content to ride in the stroller and just chill (or bake, as the case may be) until it was time to eat and then we found a quiet corner where I could nurse.) Wednesday the boys and I stayed and played at Mimi and Papaw's house while Russell went to play golf with the guys.

We headed back to Tulsa/Jenks on Thursday and continued our adventures. We went to get ice cream at Braum's with my dad and Drew insisted on having his own ice cream cone. He actually did a pretty good job eating it. We may have created a monster! Friday we went to the Oklahoma Aquarium with Gramps and Aunt Becca. Drew really had a great time looking at all of the fish. But, I think his favorite thing was feeding the turtles. They had long plastic sticks with clothespins on the end where you could put carrot slices and then feed the turtles in their pond. He LOVED it!! Now, maybe we can convince him to eat a carrot of his own - good luck! Saturday was the 4th of July, and we were pretty lazy that morning. After nap time we went to walk on the Jenks Riverwalk and then found a playground to play at for a little bit. It was pretty hot, so we didn't stay long. We decided to watch fireworks on TV instead of trying to brave the crowds and mess up bedtimes. Maybe someday we'll actually go somewhere to watch the fireworks, but for now I'm perfectly content to watch the Boston Pops show or the fireworks over the Capitol building. Sunday was church again and then we flew back home. The boys did great on the flights and Drew really liked watching the airplanes and looking out the window on the flight. I hope they continue to be good little travelers since we probably have many more trips in our future! Now, onto the pictures!!!

Playing with Gramps' train set (I don't know who enjoyed it more!)
We discovered that Drew has inherited my "allergic-ness" to bug bites. A mosquito (or something) bit him under his eye and it swelled up and got nice and red. We got some benadryl and the nice CVS pharmacist helped us figure out the correct dosage. Such fun!
