Drew's new bed!

Well, it's official. Drew has moved into his own big boy bed!! We picked it up last Friday and he's been loving it ever since. He loves to crawl into it by himself and stays in it until we come get him in the mornings or at nap time (at least so far). We've only had one or two instances of crying and waking up early, overall it's been great! Whenever we go upstairs he wants to go "nite-nite" and crawls into bed. I hope he always loves it this much!!!

Drew has discovered the joy of jumping. He can almost make it off the ground consistently with both feet (even if it's only 1/4 inch at a time) and is so cute when he's trying. He'll crouch down and say "jump" and then pop up over and over again. I'll try to get a video of him doing it, but no promises. He's still fascinated with my camera and as soon as he sees it coming he says "cheese" and wants to hold the camera himself.

UPDATED: Here's a video of Drew showing off his jumping skills. You can also see what I mean about the short window of opportunity with the camera. Enjoy - and yes, I know he only has one sock on. It wasn't a battle I wanted/needed to fight!

26 weeks

We had our 26 week appointment today and things are looking great. He's very active and has a good strong heartbeat. It's so amazing how different it feels this time around. He seems to move much more than I remember Drew moving, and is definitely a strong little boy! My stomach jumps and changes shape on a regular basis. I had to do my glucose tolerance test (which meant that I couldn't eat for most of the morning, had to drink a super sweet fruit punch drink and then have my blood drawn an hour after drinking). I don't have the results yet, but hopefully all is well. We're now to the point where I have to start going every 2 weeks and my doctor is tentatively pointing to a scheduled c-section for April 6th or 7th. We'll know more as we get closer.

And his name shall be....

For those of you who have been waiting and guessing our new son's name... we've decided on Joshua David Wiggins and we plan to call him Josh. Drew can already say the name and is starting to make connections between the name and the "baby." We can't wait to meet him in person in just a few short months!!

We're back

We made it back safely from our trip back to Houston for Christmas. It was great to be able to spend so much time with our families. I'll be posting the highlights of our Christmas "vacation" in the next few days, so check back often. We hope that everyone is ready for a fun and exciting 2009! We can't wait to see what God has in store for all of us...

Christmas Recap (Warning - long post with lots of pictures)

We had a great Christmas this year. We were blessed to be able to visit with lots of family and spent lots of time together. It was wonderful to be able to see everyone, but it's not always the most restful time for us. Both Russell and I have lots of family in the Houston area and in an effort to make everyone happy we end up making the rounds. There may be a time when we have to make changes, but it's difficult to know how to handle making a change to traditions. We're the first in both of our families to get married and have children and therefore are the ones that are affected. It's a delicate balance that we're striving to accomplish. Now, onto the pictures...

After Christmas Russell went skiing in Winter Park with his dad and sister. They had a great time and everyone came back with all bones, ligaments, and tendons in the same shape that they left!

Christmas cookies

One of my favorite (though time consuming) Christmas traditions is making cookies to share with family and friends. It was always something fun that I enjoyed doing with my mom and sister when we were going up and is a tradition that I plan to continue with my boys (for as long as they'll put up with it.) Drew "helped" last year just a little bit, but this year he really started getting into it. It takes a little longer than if I did it myself, but the memories are priceless and make it all worth it.
