32 weeks (and counting)

It seems like all I do is post about doctor's appointments, but they're a pretty big deal right now, so you'll just have to indulge me! Today was our 32 week appointment and everything is great. No news to report - which is good. Josh is growing right on schedule and I'm feeling pretty good too. I can definitely tell that he's starting to run out of space inside, but that's not keeping him from pushing and punching around. It's uncomfortable at times, but I love the special feeling and connection that I'm able to share with him during this time. We're down to only 6 1/2 weeks (or less) until we meet him in person!!! Drew is so cute about Josh right now too. When we ask him where Josh is he will point to or pat my stomach and say "inside." I hope he still feels the same connection when he's "out" and he has to learn to share his mommy. We'll just cross that bridge when we get to it...

One last fling

We just returned from our last trip to Houston before Josh's arrival. It wasn't planned for long, but ended up being a great trip. Russell had the opportunity to take a week long class and it just happened to fit into a week when I didn't have a doctor's appointment (there aren't many of those left!). We were able to see some family and get some much needed shopping done. We also took advantage of the last chance to have some time to ourselves before Josh makes his appearance (in 7 weeks or less!!!). Gigi and Grandpa graciously agreed to watch Drew for us for a couple of days in the middle of the week and Russell and I were able to spend some time alone. He was staying in a hotel on Westheimer for his training and I got to come join him for Tuesday and Wednesday nights. I used my Christmas gift certificate for a luxurious spa day on Tuesday and enjoyed getting to go shopping alone (I mostly just looked and walked around without having to worry about where Drew was or what he was doing - a nice change of pace). The spa was absolutely wonderful (thanks again, honey)!!! I had a great prenatal massage and then a spa pedicure and manicure. Such an indulgence, but so wonderful!!! I know that there won't be many opportunities for pampering myself in the coming months so I have to make this memory last. Russell and I got to go out to eat both nights without a toddler climbing all over us and even found time to see a movie. It was just what we needed to reconnect and get ready to become a family of 4!!!

30 weeks and first nursery pics

Today was our 30 week appointment. Things are measuring right on track and everything looks great! We're definitely into the home stretch now. I'm pre-registered at the hospital and have all of my remaining doctor's appointments scheduled. I'm still feeling pretty good most of the time (with those occasional bouts of uncomfortableness - is that even a word?) and am even finding time to get a few things done around the house.

Josh's room is slowly coming together. We still have work to do, of course, but here's a few pictures to give you an idea of how it's shaping up.

Bubble Bath

Tonight we gave Drew his first bubble bath. He's fascinated with bubbles (in his drinks, in the water, etc.), so we thought he might like this. He wasn't so sure about it at first, but then he warmed up to the idea and I think he really had fun! We'll have to do it more often.

Look, there are bubbles in my bathtub!

I don't think I like bubbles anymore..."

Oh, Daddy, you're so silly...

Maybe bubbles aren't so bad after all...

Now we're having fun!

I love bubbles!!!

A quick update

Well, we've been keeping busy around here trying to slowly get things pulled together for Josh's arrival in less than 9 weeks!! Little by little it will get done (or it won't and we'll be fine). We hung curtains in his room and got the crib set up. It doesn't have a mattress yet, since we used the one we had for Drew's toddler bed. Don't worry, it's on our list of things to get.

Now, here's a few cute pictures to tide you over...

We visited the little playground around the corner from our house and Drew fell in love with the steering wheel, anyone surprised??
Doesn't he look so big?? He did such a good job!
What a cutie!!

Getting ready to get ready

We had a wonderful weekend! Gigi and Grandpa Randy came to visit and helped us get SO MUCH stuff done (Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!). We packed up a bunch of stuff to put in storage and moved furniture around to make a nursery for Josh. It's so exciting to really start to visualize a new little person living here. We only have about 10 weeks to go (and so much that I still want to do before then...) Things are still in a bit of upheaval, so there's no pictures, but I'll get them up soon. I love the bedding that we've picked for Josh (Carter's Puppy Tales = puppy dogs and different cars/trucks) and will get pictures up soon.

28 weeks

Today was our 28 week appointment. Everything is right on track and looks great. All my tests came back clear and we're just plodding along. I'm definitely starting to get more and more uncomfortable, but that just comes with the territory. It will all be worth is when I'm holding Josh in my arms. The big news from today is that we have a date scheduled! Unless he decides to make his appearance earlier we have a c-section scheduled for noon on April 6. This weekend Glenda and Randy (Gigi and Grandpa) are coming to help rearrange furniture in the rooms upstairs to actually start getting ready for his arrival. It's kind of crazy how fast the time has gone - he'll be here before we know it!!!

(When I went to stand by the wall for the customary belly shot, Drew walked right over with a smile and said "Josh" and put his hands on my belly - he's going to be such a great big brother!)
