Baby "Sprinkle"

Today some of the ladies from church threw me a baby shower in anticipation of Josh's arrival. It was so sweet of them to think of us and I felt very honored. Unfortunately, there were several different things happening on Sunday, so only a few ladies were able to stay. Nevertheless, I had a good time and am lucky to be a part of a family that cares so much about us. Because this is our second boy and the seasons are pretty close together I asked for the 2 things that you can't reuse: diapers and wipes!! They came through for us in a big way and Josh even got a few new things that are just for him. Now we just wait until he makes his appearance (hopefully not for a few more weeks!).

35 weeks

Today was our 35 week appointment and there's been no change since last week (which is fine with me, since that means that he's probably not coming on his own just yet!!) Not much else to report.

I do want to document for my own sake the cuteness of my (soon-to-be) oldest son. Whenever I tell him that we're going to the doctor for Mommy to check on Josh he immediately asks "Moos?" Follow me here: "Moos" = Chick Fil A, because there are cows all over. We've been going there for lunch with Russell after our doctors appointments from the beginning and he's created quite a little routine for himself. He knows that he sits with Daddy while Mommy sits on the table and he and Daddy "read" magazines looking for pictures of cars and dogs. Then when we're done he rides in Daddy's truck to the "Moos" and we eat and then we go home and Daddy goes back to work. It's amazing how his little mind works - just don't try to mix things up or there will be trouble!!!

Yesterday afternoon Russell came home from work and decided it was finally time to mow the grass after its winter hiatus. (At least that's a positive thing about daylight savings time...it's still light long enough after he gets home to get it done.) Drew got his own lawnmower at Christmas, so we decided it was time for it to make its appearance as well. He had a great time out in the back yard (before Russell was out there mowing - for safety reasons) pushing it around and figuring it out. Then after he got tired of that he wanted to go "watch" Daddy. He was such a big boy - he sat on the front porch and just watched him with the utmost admiration. Then when he moved to the back Drew went out there and played with his sandbox, ate a snack, and just enjoyed the beautiful weather. I'm sure Russell is looking forward to the day when he can turn over the lawn mowing duties to Drew (and Josh), but for now we'll have to be content to have a little boy who loves to spend time with his daddy and wants to be just like him!

The Zoo

Saturday morning we went to the zoo! It is something that I have been wanting to do with Drew for SO long and just haven't been able to make happen until now. The weather was absolutely beautiful and we wanted to take advantage of it and get in a special "Mommy/Daddy/Drew" day before Josh's arrival in just a few short weeks! Drew LOVED it! He's always liked animals and I think he really enjoyed getting to see them in person. His absolute favorite was the elephants (no big surprise)! They were one of the first stops we made and it was perfect timing because their keepers were out feeding them so they were right up at the front of their enclosure. If you ask Drew what he saw at the zoo, chances are good that the first thing out of his mouth will be "elephant" then "hay" then "delicious"! Translation = the elephants were eating hay and they thought it was delicious! We really had a good time and then all took nice long naps when we got back home. Overall it was a wonderful day!

34 weeks

Today was our 34 week check-up and things are right on schedule. They did the Group B strep test and also checked my cervix (I know, too much information, right?) We're down to where we'll be going to the doctor every week until he decides he's ready to join us on the outside (or April 6, whichever comes first.) Josh is growing well and moving around ALOT! At times he kicks/punches/pushes so hard that I have to stop what I'm doing and breathe for a minute or two. I'm getting much more uncomfortable, especially at night, but that's to be expected at this point. Tomorrow will start our 1 month countdown to c-section day!! It's hard to believe that we're this close to holding him in our arms and becoming a family of four!!!!

And here's a picture from 18 weeks in the same shirt to prove to you that I really have grown! People always look amazed when I tell them I only have a month left. I carry my babies across rather than out front, so I guess I don't look that big to some people - but I'd disagree!

Let the "bolf" begin...

Last Friday Russell was able to go golfing with a friend from church. Drew knows a little about golf and when I told him Daddy was playing golf he said "Papaw?" (Which is funny, because the last few times Russell has played it has been with his dad=Papaw Dave.) When Russell got home we remembered that Drew has gotten his first golf set for Christmas and we hadn't gotten it out to play yet. This seemed like the perfect time. It was so cute to watch him try to hit the ball and then just pick it up and throw it when he was tired of trying to hit it. Since then he keeps asking to play "bolf." I think we've created a monster, but I know that Russell is really looking forward to the time when he can take his boys with him to the range or out on the course.
